Miss Hal was the fourth youngest child according to a letter of 21 March 1863 from her father, J. S. Wright in Havana. She and the rest of her family were confirmed members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Augusta, Georgia in 1867.
®118 She married William K. Root 4 months after her sister Laura was married. She was William’s second wife, and stepmother to three of his children. They were married 17 October 1872 before the congregation of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, W. H. Clarke officiating.
®118 In 1880 she is a 32 years old housekeeper living with her husband and their four children in Marietta, Georgia.
®1970 She was renting as H. E. Root, widow, ,42, born in Alabama, at 108 West Hall, Savannah, Georgia with her mother, Mary Isabelle Eve, and her son Sidney from 24 Dec 1900

®98 Her husband was presumably dead or they had divorced. In 1904 Harriet E., her son Maryon E., and Mrs. Mary I. Wright moved to 509 Barnard. In 1910 Mary I. Wright is 85
®1862, and in 1911, Miss Julia T. Root appears and resides with Harriet and Maryon. In 1918 they move to 1408 West Drayton. After 1920 Harriet is no longer listed in the Savannah city directories.
®98On the 26 April 1930 census she is an 84 year old widow who lives in the Fifth Military District of Chatham County with her 43 year old single daughter, Julia T. Root, and her 40 year old single son Marion E. Root. She owns her home which is worth $5000. Julia is a stenographer at an electric plant, and Marion has no listed occupation. Harriet died on 23 Dec 1932 in Savannah, Chatham County and was taken to Augusta, Georgia for burial. She was 86 years 9 months and 17 days old at death.
