From 1956 to 1965 she is a clerk for the Brown Drug Company in Virginia, and lives with her husband at 1304 South 10th, Virginia, Minnesota. From 1966 to 1970 the family disappears from the Virginia city directory, but Kathleen is a clerk with Brown Drug again from 1970 to 1978, living at 1103 13th Avenue South, Virginia. Anthony and Katherine reappear in 1981, both retired, at 1103 South 13th Avenue West, Virginia. They then disappear from the directories from 1982 to 1988 but are at 1103 South 13th Avenue West, Virginia as of 1990.
®2884 Katherine E. Matkovich, 95, of Virginia died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at St. Michael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia. She was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Aurora to Peter and Mathilda (Gobatz) Rukavena and grew up there. On Dec. 3, 1942, she married Anthony Matkovich in Virginia. Katherine was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia, the National Catholic Society of Foresters and St. Ann's Guild; and spent countless hours volunteering her time and talents to making pasties. She worked at Brown Drug in Virginia for many years. She is survived by one daughter, Bettie (Ted) Saari of Burnsville and one son, Tom (Jill) Matkovich of Mountain Iron; and was a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren, Keith Saari and Christine Saari, both of Minneapolis, Taylor (Derek) Wudinich of Eveleth and Jessie Matkovich of Duluth; one great-granddaughter, Alicia Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony in 1995; two sisters, Ann Rukavena and Mary Sabetti; and two brothers, John and Peter Rukavena. A private family funeral service will be held and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Virginia. Arrangements are with the Landmark Funeral Home of Virginia.
