He was Mary's second husband and a planter and a neighbor on the island of St. Salvador (Cat Island) Bahamas. In December 1783, a Miles McInnes (at that time living in London) put in a memorial claim as a Loyalist referring to his prior residence in North Carolina and his imprisonment in South Carolina and Florida during the Revolution.

She was less than 21 years of age and unmarried at time of her father’s will of 7 April 1790. She moved from Cat Island to Nassau with her two sons, Joseph C. and William Oswell, after her husbands death in 1798.
