DR. EDWARD ARMSTRONG EVE: Was born at Augusta, Georgia on 2 October 1807; he died at Augusta, Georgia, on 20 December 1877. Dr. Edward A. Eve was the son of Dr. Joseph Eve, the scientist, cotton gin inventor and journalist, and, his wife Hannah Singleterry. Dr. Edward A. Eve married Sarah Jane Raiford (b. 21 March 1818; d. 30 December 1897) with whom he is buried in Cottage Cemetery.
Dr. Edward A. Eve is reputedly the first graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia, where his older brother, Dr. Joseph Adams Eve, was a founding professor, and his cousin, Dr. Paul FitzSimons Eve was the Dean. He first appears in the 1840 census of District 123, Richmond County, Georgia where he is 20-30 years old, his wife is 20-30 years old and they have one girl (Henrietta) under 5 years of age. Living with them are two white boys 15-20 years, a white female 30-40 and a white female 50-60.
®3716 Dr. Edward Armstrong Eve 1807-1877: Is son of Hannah and Joseph was also an outstanding physician and one of five members of the first graduating class of MCG in 1833. He and his wife Sarah Jane 1818-1897 were parents to poet and author Maria Louisa Eve.
