Funeral services for Jacob A. Adam, 97, Keewatin, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2004 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Keewatin. The Rev. Ron Gagne will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be in the church from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday with parish wake prayers at 5:30 p.m., and will continue Monday in the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing. Pallbearers are his grandsons: Mark Spagnolo, Neal Mayerle, Zachary MacRunnels, Michael Adams, Dr. Jeremy Adam, Luke Adam and Jerrod MacRunnels. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters: Kathleen Selenak, Donna Roman, Mary Pat Fjelsted, Maureen Hill, Andrea Hudson, Lauren Kelly, Joel Mayerle, Lynn Hanson and Erin Kusske. He died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 in Hibbing. He was born Jan. 30, 1907 in Ely, Minn. to Jacob and Mary (Brunskole) Adam. He and his wife, Agnes made their home in Keewatin where he worked for the Cleveland Cliffs Mining Co. He was an active member of the community being a member of St.Mary’s Catholic Church and its parish council, a 75- year member of the Knights of Columbus, a board member of the Keewatin Public Utilities and had been a past Keewatin Police Commissioner. He was also a member of the Hibbing Historical Society and loved to travel. He is survived by two sons, Dr. Patrick (Kay) Adams of Shakopee, Minn.and Jerry (Karen) Adam of Keewatin; four daughters: Marcia (Dr. Anthony )Spagnolo of Shakopee, Minn., Mary Alice (Dr. James) Mayerle of Chaska, Minn., Kathleen (Dale) MacRunnels of Moundsview, Minn. and Nancy (Lt. Col. William, ret. USAF) Tromp of Papillon, Neb.; a brother, Frank Adams of Keewatin; a sister, Rose Petroske; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; brothers, Joe, Martin and Lawrence Adams; and sisters, Ann Madsen and Mary Zevnick. Funeral arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
