Blanche Elstein came from the New York Foundling Hospitl to Bayfield on the Orphan Train in 1902 and was adopted by the LaBonte’s. On 1 June 1905 Blanche E. La Bonte, 5, lived in the Town of Bayfield, Wisconsin with Alfred G. 44, and Lucy S. 43, La Bonte, who had 5 older children. In 1910 Blanche Labonte, 10, lived on First Street in the Town of Bayfield with Alfred G., 48, and Lucy S., 48, La Bonte, and 3 older children. Alfred was a bookkeeper in the railroad office and both he and his wife were caucasian.
