PORTLAND – Lorraine M. Young, 93, of Portland, passed away
surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the
Barron Center.
Born on February 3, 1922 in Rogersville, New Brunswick,
Canada, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Lucien and Eleanor
(Richard) McCaie. She graduated from Rogersville Schools in
1942. During her younger years, Lorraine and her mother ran a
boarding house for service men in the years leading up to WWII.
Coming to the Portland area in 1952, Lorraine worked for an
Insurance Agency and in 1978 she began working for the
Portland Housing Authority, retiring in 1989.
Lorraine was an active communicant of St. Pius X.
Above all else in life, Lorraine was devoted to her children, and
enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow. She was a wonderful
mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her
brother, Emery McCaie, and granddaughter, Crystal Marie Young.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan M. Young and husband
Richard Wright of GA; sons, Charles T. Young and wife Darlene of
Portland, Gregory A. Young of Portland, and Thomas C. Young of
Westbrook. Also survived by grandchildren, Joseph, Andrew,
Thomas Jr., and Christine; brother Aleric McCaie and wife Yvonne
of New Brunswick, Canada.
