     The following article appeared in the Ottawa, Ontario The Ottawa Citizen, 15 May 1944 :
Ottawa and District Airmen Are Missing
     Three Ottawa. and district air men are reported missing on active service overseas and LAC. John Samuel Cirtleton. brother of Mrs. M. J. Shannon of 238 James street, Pembroke, is listed as having been seriously injured on active service in Canada in the latest casualty list issued by Air Force Head quarters last night.
     Those missing are: PO. George J. Palsen, son of Fit. Sgt. and Mrs. G. Palsen of 840 Somerset street west; Fit. Sgt James Edmund Mc-Gibbon, son of Mr. S. E. McGibbon of Hawkesbury, and Fit. Sgt. Roy Fredrick Schimmens, whose wife resides at Lascelles, Que.
     An air bomber, PO. Palsen received his wing at London last September and arrived overseas a short time later. A brother, Pte. Charles Palsen is posted in Ottawa with the R.C.A.S.C.7

The R.C.A.F. today issued its 1,150th casualty of the war. The names of three Ottawa and three district men appeared.

     The following information is from my personal research, 2016:
He has no know grave, failed to return from a cross-country flight during WWII. Presumed dead and commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial in Surrey, England.5
