Frederick Darlington Bowditch to his brother Charles Bowditch, 12 March 1908

[From Frederick Darlington Bowditch in Urbana, Illinois, to his brother Charles Bowditch. He encloses leases for some type of mine, apparently as a result of some legal issues involving their rights to it.

This letter is incomplete, missing everything except the (short) first page. The signature is thus missing, but from the opening and the location, it's clear who the sender and recipient are.]

My dear Brother Charles,

Your letter of Mar. 7th just rec'd. I inclose a number of leases of the [__?__] mine. This is all I can find. Among the papers is a copy of a lease to John Bowditch1 made in 1901. I am quite sure this lease is recorded in Burnsville. John had it recorded when he and Joe2 had trouble about the mine (Joe acting for me). You act for me in the matter. Engage Biss3 for me and follow his advise. We will have a suit if it comes to that.

I don't remember

  1. John Abbot Bowditch (1856-1933), Frederick and Charles's brother
  2. Joseph Bowditch (1858-1923), Frederick and Charles's brother
  3. John Bispham Ray (1873-1924)
