He was "a farmer, weaver, and doctor, and a man of rare ingenuity."2 He served as a deacon in the church for 40 years.2 He had the following known children, but the genealogy by H. D. Lord doesn't say by which of his two wives: Joseph (b 29 February 1745 (sic), d 10 February 1817), John (b 13 August 1746, d 12 June 1826), Mark, Anthony, Mary, Ann, Hannah, Eliphalet, Sarah, Rebecca, Patience, Lucy, Ephraim.2
