'Christopher Channing Whitcomb (Mark, Israel, Israel, Hezekiah, Josiah, John) was graduated from the Divinity School in Cambridge, Mass., and was about to settle as pastor of the Unitarian Society in Norton, Mass., when he was prostrated by sickness from which he never recovered. He was a young man of much intelligence and gave promise of a life of great usefulness, not only from his native talents, but also from his culture and his desire to elevate the race. He died September 3, 1865; unmarried.²'
