Houghton, Leland D. "Lee" Leland "Lee" D. Houghton, 78, of Beach Park, IL died on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago. Lee was born June 2, 1933 in Novinger, MO and has lived in the Waukegan area for the past 60 years. He was a member of Community Christian Church of Waukegan. Lee worked as a mechanic for various auto dealerships in this area. He belonged to Ambassadors CMA motorcycle group and he had a strong passion for restoring old cars. He was especially fond of his 1941 Chevy. Survivors include his wife Angie; children David (Trish) Houghton of Castro Valley, CA and Richard (Monica) Houghton of Pleasant Hill, CA; step-children Kelly (Randy) Piwoni of Kenosha, WI, Ron Lipp of Bismark, ND, Scott (Marina) Lipp of Round Lake Beach, IL, and Kendra Lipp of Bismark, ND; two grandchildren, Keith and Jessica; nine step-grandchildren, Melissa, Justin, Ryan, Kayla, Emily, Kayley, Aleeah, Chris and Darlin; his sister, Marjorie (Eldon) Bausell of Kirksville, MO; one nephew Everett (Beverly) Frady of Kirksville, MO and his children Amos (April) Frady and Kelly (Jason) Knipp, both of Kirsksville, MO. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Gival and Rita Houghton. Visitation will be Sunday, January 8, 2012, from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Community Christian Church, 1400 Yorkhouse Road, Waukegan, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Knight officiating. Interment will be Monday, January 9th, at 11:00 a.m. at Pineview Cemetery. "An able political scientist who has been very active and consistent in opposing the Cold War and supporting broad Revisionism is Neal D. Houghton of the University of Arizona, who has been engaged in this work for a decade. He has written and lectured extensively and has organized impressive conferences of outstanding authorities to deal with the world situation. Houghton has been most concerned with demonstrating the comprehensively revolutionary character of the post-war era and the utter futility of imagining that Cold War strategy or frenzy can deal effectively with the problems of the most fluid and dynamic period in human history. The essentials of his position, set forth in numerous articles, will be brought together in a symposium he has edited and will appear in May, 1968. It is very appropriately entitled The Struggle Against History: American Foreign Policy in an Age of Revolution."

She has been our matriarch, supporting us with unconditional love. She has been our beacon, showing us how to live lives rooted in patience, acceptance, and love.
