Research

In the wedding announcement in the Chicago Times, he is described as being from New York (City?), and the couple are to live in New York. The bride's uncle is a Henry A Spaulding of Chicago and Paris, who is a world-class jeweller and hobnobber with princes. The Episcopal Bishop of Chicago celebrated the nuptials. There is great description of decorations and dresses, plus a long guest list. This is a social event.
Henrietta, or Maude as she liked to be called, was actually from a New York family, and had been living with her aunt and uncle -- in Paris and Chicago for a few years.
The presence of the Episc Bp of Chicago might suggest an association with The Rev Dr George H Houghton, Rector of the Church of the Transfiguration in NYC (the "Little Church around the Corner"). But the bridegroom almost certainly wasn't him. This sort-of posh cleric would have been already married and 70.³
