Dempsey of Milton. Dear sister of Helen Walsh and her husband William of Franklin, James Houghton and his wife Agnes of Canton, & the late Mary L. Houghton. Daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. James and Mary (Beastie) Houghton. Born in Boston, Julia grew up in the Neponset section of Dorchester and graduated from St. Anns Grammar School and Girls High School in the South End. She worked for the N.E. Tel. & Tel. until her marriage in 1962. A resident of Milton since 1967, Julia was very active in the St. Agathas Guild and Bowling League for a number of years. She, subsequently, worked at the Union Warren Savings Bank as a mortgage officer and at State Street Bank. Funeral Mass at St. Agatha Church, Milton on Thurs. Jan. 9 at 10:30 AM. Visiting hour at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton Thurs. 9 to 10 AM, prior to Mass.
