A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, in Pegg, Paxson & Springer Chapel for L. ''Keith'' Houghton, who died Aug. 9 at age 62.

Mr. Houghton was born April 13, 1935, in Oregon City. He attended school in Molalla. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Joyce Stainbrook in 1958 and moved to Portland in 1961. He was a bull rider in rodeos, raced motorcycles and was a truck driver for Northwest Container Co.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Leslie Korbe of Oregon City, Stacey Conlin of Beaverton and Wendy Lafferty of Aloha; sister, Jean Hepler of Salem; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Crescent Grove Cemetery in Tigard. The family suggests remembrances to the American Heart Association.1

,'^M SALEM - Today God gained an angel and friends and family lost a beloved wife to Henry H. Hepler of Salem, mother of three (Marlene Hepler of St. Helens, Sheila Hepler and Jim Hepler both of Salem) grandmother of seven (Teresa, Ronnie, Walter, Brian, Tiffany, Amanda, and Michelle) and great grandmother of five who will all greatly miss this wonderful woman.
Jean was bom in The Dalles, Ore. to Floyd and Lois Houghton and had a younger brother, Leonard Houghton. All three preceded her in death. She grew up in Beaver Creek, Ore. where she met and married Henry in September 1950. They eventually settled in Salem when Henry joined the Oregon State Police and where Jean was a homemaker
and waitress. Jean was a caring, loving and generous soul - almost to a fault. She always volunteered to help anyone who needed a lift to an appointment, to the grocery store, or any other thing they needed. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spent many precious hours tending to their needs and spoiling them.
Among the many friends who will miss her are those she had grown to love at the adult park in which she and Henry lived. She loved the monthly potlucks, morning coffee, and the daily gossip. Each will say that Jean was quick to offer a helping hand and provide any support that was needed. Others who will miss her terribly are her life long friends, her in-laws, and her many relatives from her husband’s side of the family.Jean was the kind of woman that remembered everyone’s birthday, anniversary, report card day, and what happened on Friday 30 years ago. She had a wonderful memory and a million wonderful stories to tell - she was a remarkable woman and God is very lucky!
We miss you Wife, Mom, Grandmother, and Friend - You will always be in our hearts.
