Jill Poggott, 2019: Andrew Wyckoff descended from Pieter Claesen, from whom all American Wyckoffs descended. Pieter Claesen arrived in New Netherlands in 1637. He married Grietje Van Ness, whose family arrived in 1641. Susan’s daughter Sally married into another prominent colonial family. Her husband Daniel Skillman descended from Thomas who came to the continent in 1664 as part of Nicholl’s expedition to take New Amsterdam from the Dutch. Thomas married Sarah Pettit and is the founder of the American Skillman family.¹

Hello Charles Vella—I have a 4th great-grandmother named Susan Houghton. Neither she nor her children are in your (astounding) database.
Susan Houghton (born c 1775) married Andrew Wyckoff, Sr. The couple lived in Amwell, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Andrew Wyckoff descended from Pieter Claesen, from whom all American Wyckoffs descended. Pieter Claesen arrived in New Netherlands in 1637. He married Grietje Van Ness, whose family arrived in 1641. Susan’s daughter Sally married into another prominent colonial family. Her husband Daniel Skillman descended from Thomas who came to the continent in 1664 as part of Nicholl’s expedition to take New Amsterdam from the Dutch. Thomas married Sarah Pettit and is the founder of the American Skillman family. I know the Houghtons were an important family in the area where Susan raised her children and I grew up, but I can’t connect her to a family. Here’s everything I have. I’d appreciate any leads.
