®1441 “After a short residence in Springfield, they removed to a new plantation on then, called “Twenty Mile River”, afterwards called Colchester, and then in the County of Hartford, Connecticut. Mr. Munn was one of those engaged in the famous “Falls Fight” under Capt. Turner at the Falls on the Connecticut River between the present towns of Gill and Montague, where on the 18th of May 1676 a large body of Indians belonging to the forces of King Philip were surprised and about 300 of their number met death, either in battle or by attempted flight, being precipitated down the cataract, while the English are reported to have lost but one man. By virtue of the service here rendered the General Court on the 21 Jan 1736. Sixty years after the event set apart in his name a right of proprietorship in which is now the town of Bernardston, Mass.” He died at 86 years of age.
