He never married. He left Bayfield at age 18 on 20 January 1945 to join the United States Navy.
®162 His Navy basic training was at Great Lakes Naval Base, Illinois.
®162 He was a career Navy man trained as a machinist. He was honorably discharged as an E-6, and stayed in the Fleet Reserve. On 13 August 1980 he lived in Newark, Ohio. After discharge he worked for Garwood Industries, then Gaelic Tugboat Company from about 1982 to 1991, both in Detroit Michigan, and then retired to a trailer home at 867 North Lamb Boulevard, Lot 29, Las Vegas, Nevada 89110.
