He served as a Private in World War I from 24 July 1918 to 22 Jan 1919 in the 161st Dep. Brigade, 9th Company, Dev. Bn. No. 3, Camp Logan Roots, Texas. On 1 January 1920 Carl, 26 and single lived with his brother Walfred, single and 19, his sister Ellen, 31 and married, with his widowed father August on August’s farm on Swede Pine Road in White River Township of Ashland, Wisconsin.
®4048Carl lived and worked on his sister Ida, and brother in law Charles Anderson’s Lake View Farm in Ashland until it was sold in 1941. He then worked for the Larson Buick Garage in Ashland.

®3791 He lived on Route 2, Ashland, Wisconsin. After Charles and Ida retired and returned from Chicago to live in a trailer at Lake View Farm, Carl returned to Lake View Farm to live in the home next door with Tom and Bernes Butterworth.
