On 1 June 1900 William McCarty, a saloon keeper born August 1859 in Ohio lived in a house he rented on Rittenhouse Avenue in Bayfield, Wisconsin. His father had been born in English Canada and mother in Scotland. He lived with wife of 12 years, Adda, 32, a son just born and unnamed, and a 20 year old single servant, Louise Reibe.

On 1 June 1870 he was 16, single, lived with his parents and worked in the fishery in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
®7373 On 1 June 1880 he had moved to Bayfield, Wisconsin where he was a 28 year old commercial fisherman born in Wisconsin whose parents had both been born in Canada. His wife, Charlott [sic], 21, and daughter Effie, 2, lived with him.
®8035 On 1 June 1900 Joseph Boutin, a 47 year old store clerk lived with his wife of 24 years, Sharlotte [sic], 41, and daughters Emaline, 19, and Elsie, 17, on Third Street in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Effie no longer lived with the family.
®10696 By 1 June 1905 Charlotte and he had divorced, so Joseph Boutin was 50 and boarded with the James Bailey family in Bayfield, Wisconsin. He was born in Wisconsin and both parents in Canada.
