The following biographical fact was included at the book An Illustrated History of Collingwood Township, Ontario, 1979:
It mentions C. Clayton (Clayt) Crosskill setting up an apiary in about 1918. His 1933 death registration gives his occupation as an "Apiarist."21,8

The following obituary was provided to me December 2007 from Susan Kennedy's ancestry.com family tree (no source reference provided):
(I assume that the reference to "last night" (April 20) in the obituary below reflects when the obituary was written, rather than when it was published, since the death registration gives April 19th as his date of death.)
OBITUARY - Clayton Crosskill - Apr. 21, 1933
Clayton Crosskill, esteemed resident of Clarksburg, and one the leading apiarists of Beaver Valley, was found asphyxiated the cab of his motor-truck, last night (sic), at his apiary on the 10th line.
Not arriving at his home in Clarksburg, at the usual time for the evening meal, Mrs. Crosskill motored to her husband’s apiary, three miles away, on the 10th Line, Collingwood township. On arriving there, she found the doors to the garage, (situated underneath the apiary), closed. Hearing the engine of the truck running, she called, but received no answer. Becoming alarmed, she secured the assistance of Mr. Amos Kentner, whose home is about 15 rods away Returning to the scene, doors were opened, and there in the cab, Mr. Crosskill was found, overcome with the monoxide fumes, and though life was apparently extinct, artificial respiration was applied for an hour or more, but to no avail. Coroner J. F. McKee, who had been summoned, decided an inquest was unnecessary.
Sympathy of the whole community will go out to deceased's wife, also to his parents, and his sister and brother in their period, of sorrow. The funeral will take place to Union Cemetery, Thornbury. Deceased was in his 38th year and widely esteemed."
Note - Ten years later, Clayton's widow married his cousin, Emil Stephen Smith. This transcription is no longer included in his profile.19
