Canadian Military Service - WWI

     Clifford John Mayhew of Winnipeg, Manitoba was conscripted on 5 January 1918 at Neepawa, RM of Langford, Manitoba, Canada, joining the 1st Depot Battalion, Manitoba Regiment. He was an unmarried farm labourer. His medical examination was on 26 Nov 1917. He was described as being 5' 5 1/2" with a dark complexion, brown eyes and brown hair. On his conscription papers he listed his next-of-kin as his mother, Mary Mayhew of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was assigned regimental number 2129449.4 Pte. Clifford John Mayhew ended military service as part of general demobilization on 26 May 1919 at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, after serving with the 27th Battalion in France.

     He is survived by his widow, Alma Ruby; a son, James and daughter, Mary, both at home.
     The body will be forwarded to Foxwarren for funeral service and burial. Bardal's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.9

     He was born circa 1894 at Switzerland.2 Hans married Ethel May Trimm on 20 May 1915 at Oshawa, East Whitby Twp., Ontario County, Ontario, Canada.1 Hans Paul Deubelbeiss and Ethel May Trimm were divorced on 27 May 1935 or 29 May 1935 at Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Note that I have found news articles using the Trimm surname for Jack and Helen as early as Mar 1933. This would indicate that they were separated by this time.1,3 Hans married Albertine Theresa Anderwert.4
     Hans Paul Deubelbeiss died on 14 February 1948 at Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada.5,6
     
     His name was also recorded as John Paul Dubliss.5 He was included on a passenger manifest for the Ausonia dated 1 April 1914 arriving at Portland, Maine, USA, from Southampton, England.7
