This does not account for their 21 Sep 1933 marriage record (see footnotes below.) Perhpas they were living common-law prior to the later marriage.6,3,4

     His name was also recorded as Henry Meski according to the index record for his daughter's birth. This may be a matter of interpreting the original record, which is not included with the index.4
     Henry J. and Bertha J. Meske appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, Ward 30, enumerated 25 April 1910, described as a conductor on a railroad. Their daughter, Alma P., was listed as living with them. They were living in the same house as the Fred Jahn family, probably Bertha's family.2
