Letters by Lucinda (Morse) Bowditch
Lucinda Morse, daughter of Anthony Morse and Huldah Taylor, was born 26 April 1786 in Sharon, Vermont. She married Joseph Bowditch, son of Thomas Bowditch and Sarah Bancroft, in 1812, and died 18 August 1858 in Salem, Massachusetts.
These two short letters were both written in 1856 to "My dear children," and signed "from Mother." From the text, it's clear that they were written by Lucinda (Morse) Bowditch to her son Joseph Henry Bowditch and his wife Elizabeth (Abbot) Bowditch in North Carolina. The letters are in good condition, although one has a small tear. The handwriting is shaky, as one might expect from an elderly person.
