He was a wheelwright in Laxfield, co. Suffolk, England.1
His will was dated 29 December 1590 and proved on 26 January 1590/91. He left his messuage in Stradbroke, co. Suffolk, to his wife Jane for use during her life, after which it was to go to his brother-in-law John Punchyard, then to his brother-in-law's son John Punchyard (the testator's godson) at age 21. His wife was also left various tools and lumber, and his brother-in-law was also left £10, some lumber, and his best oak trees. His stepdaughters Anne and Susanna Borret each received a chest. He left his brother John some lumber, his brother Jeremie a colt and the rest of his tools and timber, and his brother-in-law Thomas Borret a mare, some lumber, and some wheat. He also left 20s to the poor of Laxfield. Whatever remained was left to his wife Jane, who was named executor. The estate was inventoried on 7 January 1590/91 and valued at £200.2

He was listed in the muster rolls for Laxfield, co. Suffolk, England, in 1543.1 From 1542 to 1544 he was taxed 3d in Laxfield.1 In 1567/68 he was taxed 9s 4d on land valued at £4 in Laxfield, and 2s 8d on land valued at £2 in Dennington, both in co. Suffolk.1
On 22 September 1557 his brother-in-law John Noyse, husband of his wife's sister Anne Crispe, was burned at the stake for heresy. Nicholas visited him in prison at the Guildhall in Norwich shortly before his execution "to comfort him, to inquire if he feared death, and to determine the cause for his condemnation."2
Moriarty suggests that he probably married twice, and that all of his children except William were probably from his first marriage. This is likely based on a passage in his will that explicitly refers to his wife Johane as William's mother. However, later research by Stott shows that other information in his will implies that Johane was the mother of all of his children, and that he was thus married just once.1,2

He was a wheelwright in St. Michael's parish, South Elmham, co. Suffolk, England.1 He married, but his wife's name is unknown. She probably died before 10 October 1575, as she is not mentioned in his will.1
His will was dated 10 October 1575. He left a feather bed, etc., to his daughter Gelyon, 40s to his daughter Margaret, and 20s and a cow to his daughter Agnes. Whatever remained of his estate was left to his daughter Mary, who was named executrix. In a codicil dated 2 January 1578/79 he left each of his grandchildren 20d, and "borowghes children" 40d each. He also left 20d to Elizabeth Wood "the lame wench in this parish," 10d each to Peter Wells and Robt. Kempe, and 10s to "the afflicted for Christes his sake." His will was proved on 30 January 1578/79.2
