Ernest I (of Saxe-Coburg) was born in 1784 in Saxe-Coburg, Germany.1 He was the son of Francis Frederick (of Saxe-Coburg) and Augusta Carolina (?)1 Ernest I (of Saxe-Coburg) married Louise (of Saxe-Gotha), daughter of Augustus (of Saxe-Gotha) and Augusta Carolina (?), on 31 July 1817 in Gotha, Germany; Later Divorced.1 Ernest I (of Saxe-Coburg) died on 29 January 1844.1
Ernest I's father Francis Frederick (of Saxe-Coburg) died in 1806.1 Ernest I (of Saxe-Coburg) became the father of Ernest II (of Saxe-Coburg) in 1818.1 Ernest I (of Saxe-Coburg) became the father of Prince Albert (of Saxe-Coburg & Gotha) on 26 August 1819.1 Ernest I (of Saxe-Coburg) became a widower with the death of his wife, Louise (of Saxe-Gotha) in 1831 in Paris, France.1 Ernest I's mother Augusta Carolina (?) died in 1831.1 Ernest I's son Prince Albert (of Saxe-Coburg & Gotha) was married to Queen Victoria Hanover of England on 10 February 1840 in London, England.1,2
