Helen (Nellie) Herron was born on 2 June 1861 in Cincinnati, Ohio.1 She married President William Howard Taft, son of Alphonso Taft and Louisa Maria Torrey, on 19 June 1886 in Cincinnati, Ohio.1 Helen (Nellie) Herron died on 22 May 1943 in Washington, DC, at age 81.1 She was buried at Arlington Cementary, Arlington County, Virginia.1
Conceived the idea of the thousands of flowering Japanese cherry trees in Potomac Park.1 She became the mother of Robert Alphonso Taft on 8 September 1889.1 Helen (Nellie) Herron became the mother of Helen Herron Taft on 1 August 1891.1 Helen (Nellie) Herron became the mother of Charles Phelps Taft on 20 September 1897.1 Helen (Nellie)'s son Robert Alphonso Taft was married to Martha Wheaton Wheaton-Bowers on 17 October 1914 in Washington, DC.1 Helen (Nellie)'s son Charles Phelps Taft was married to Eleanor Kellogg Chase on 6 October 1917 in Waterbury, Connecticut.1 Helen (Nellie)'s daughter was married at wedding of Helen Herron Taft and Frederick Johnson Manning on 15 July 1920.1 Helen (Nellie) Herron became a widow with the death of her husband, President William Howard Taft on 8 March 1930 in Washington, DC, at age 72.1
