Catherine (of Braganza) was born on 25 November 1638 in Vila Vicosa, Lisbon, Portugal.2 She was the daughter of King Jodao IV (of Portugal And The Algarves) and Queen Luisa Maria De Guzman (of Portugal).2 Catherine (of Braganza) was christened on 12 December 1638 at Villa Vicosa, Lisboa, Lisboa, Portugal.2 She married King Charles II Stuart of England, son of King Charles I Stuart of England and Princess Henriette Marie (of France), on 31 May 1662 in Portsmouth, England.2,1 Catherine (of Braganza) died on 31 December 1705 in Bemposta Palace, Lisbon, Portugal, at age 67.2,1 She was buried in Belem.2
It is believed that she may have been the queen for whom Queens Borough of New York City is named.2 Catherine's father King Jodao IV (of Portugal And The Algarves) died on 6 November 1656 in Lisboa, Lisboa, Portugal.2 Catherine's mother Queen Luisa Maria De Guzman (of Portugal) died on 27 February 1666 at Convento De Xabregas, Lisboa, Lisboa, Portugal.2 Catherine (of Braganza) was named a godparent of King (Jocabite) James Francis Edward Stuart when she was baptized on 15 October 1688 at Chapel Royal, St. James's Palace, London, England.3
