Nolan, who made his home with his sister, Mrs. Terrenee Sheflin of Crawford Creek took a rifle and wen out Wednesday afternoon of last week to hunt. His not returning a search was made and he was found dead about !1 o'clock Thursday morning wilh a bullet through his heart. Mr. Nolan has been in ill health for some years and part of the time confined to the house. He was editor of the Toledo Record, but spent the past few years in this vicinity to recuperate his health and
took up the occupation of soliciting orders for the Clows Knit Co. He was 59 years of age. He was brought to the Shepard mortuary chapel and prepared for burial. Mr. Shepard accompniled the funeral party to Geneseo Saturday morning where he conducted the funeral at the church with burial In St. Mary's cemetery.

She was married April 12, 1904 at Caledonia to Terrance Shefhn, who survives her, along with the daughter already mentioned: one son. James Sheflin of Le Roy, and ten grandchildren. The body is at the Ames home where friends may call. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning (June 2, 1949) at nine-thirtv o'clock in St. Joseph's Church, Scio. The Rev. John J. King. Belmont, pastor, will officiate and burial will be
made in St. Mary's Cemetery.

- [S170] The Auburn Citizen, AUBURN — Bernard “Ted” Theodore Shaw, 78, passed away peacefully June 16, 2016 at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Auburn, Ted grew up on Fitch Avenue. After getting married to Pauline, his wife of 58 years, they moved to Highland Street where they raised their four children. Ted and Pauline then moved to Port Byron where they met many friends and enjoyed the camaraderie of those at the Port Byron diner. Ted enjoyed bowling and was involved in many leagues over the years. Most recently he bowled at Rainbow Lanes where he carried a 175 average. Ted enjoyed being outdoors, spending time working in his yard, bird and wildlife watching, and loved his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters. In his early years, Ted worked for Wally Slayton Construction and JJ Harrington/Auburn Sand & Stone. Ted retired from the City of Auburn Street Department in 2001.
Ted was predeceased by his parents, L. Stuart Shaw and Ruth Stanton; two sisters and their husbands, Phyllis “Susie” and George Phillips, and Jean and Frank Mester.
Ted is survived by his wife, Pauline (Kromer) Shaw; one daughter and three sons, Candace (Richard) Searing, of Skaneateles, N.Y., Bernard “Bernie” Shaw (Sandra Jones), of Aurora, N.Y., John Shaw (Susan Farrington), of Cayuga, N.Y., and David (Chrissy Balk), of Auburn; 19 grandchildren, Brett (Casey) Searing, of Savannah, Ga., Sarah (Andrew) Wood, of Stamford, Conn., Stephanie (Jason Ferrante) Searing, of Burlingame, Calif., Alexsandra (Dan) Sullivan, of Auburn, Richard “Richie,” Bryan, Kathryn “Katie,” Victoria, Michael, Jenna, Daniel, Julia, Mary, Lauren, John “Johnny,” Andrew, Hannah, Kendall, and Spencer Shaw; three great-granddaughters, Maddison and Finley Searing, and Amelia Sullivan; his two brothers, Stuart “Buster” Shaw, of Auburn, and Donald Shaw, of Watkinsville, Ga.; his sister, Marilyn Bisgrove, of Auburn; his brother-in-law, David Kromer, of Auburn; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends, including lifelong friend, Dick (Peggy) Quill.

Evans, James Lloyd Appleton Age 92, died September 3, 2010, at Cherry Meadows in Appleton. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Katherine (Schuh) Evans; his children, Steve (Mary) Evans, John (Mary) Evans, Ellen (David) Rogers, Martha (Austin) Boyle, and Jim (Mary) Evans; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his brother Donald Evans and his grandson Daniel Evans. Born and raised in Marcus, Iowa, the son of Julian Evans and Ellen (Souhan) Evans, he was a longtime resident of Appleton. Jim attended Marquette University, graduating in 1940 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He then worked as a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and San Antonio, Texas. He later enlisted in the Navy, serving at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Waukegan, IL, where he met his wife, Katherine Schuh, who was working at the base as a librarian. They were married on July 13, 1946, and moved to Appleton, where Jim became president and owner of the Outagamie Abstract and Title Company, later renamed Evans Title Companies. Jim was active in St. Mary Parish, serving on the finance committee, parish counsel and cemetery committee. Jim also volunteered with the Salvation Army. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served on the Knights' board. He also was a member of Appleton Elks Lodge #337 and bowled in the Elks League. Additionally, Jim belonged to the Golden K Kiwanis and, for many years, Buttes des Morts Country Club. Visitation will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 South State St. in Appleton, on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at 9 a.m. followed by Mass at 11 am with Reverend Robert Lexa presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Joseph Food Pantry, 1465 Opportunity Way, Menasha, WI 54952.
