[S31] The Auburn Citizen, Auburn, New York, Nov 6, 1905 There was a deliberate suicide in the settlement of Charleston, about one and one-half miles South of Montezuma along tfhe river road, yesterday afternoon. John Foster, a farmer, was the victim and he went about his preparations for death in a most deliberate manner. His wife found him last evening about 7 o'clock. She had been calling upon one of the neighbors and it was upon her return toher home that she saw the shocking sight. ......Mr. Foster was a man 68 years of age and one who always commanded the respect of his acquaintances. He was a very steady man, a good husband and father to his family, but had been in very poor health for the past few years. He apparently was no worse during the past week as he was in the village of Montezuma during the week and remarked to some of 'his friends that he was feeling very goodFoster is survived by his wife and one son, Douglas. Another son, Frank Foster, who formerly ran the elevator in the Smith block, died rather suddenly in this city a few months ago. Funeral services will be held at his late home Wednesday at 1 p. m. Burial will be made at Fosterville.
