Biography | He was Vicar of Hanbury in Staffordshire. In the British Museum MSS 355641 f.208; 35645 f.6 Catalogue of Additions to the Manuscripts are letters from Geoffrey (sic) Snelson, vicar of Reigate, to the 3rd Lord Hardwicke. I haven't seen them, nor do I know what they contain; I wonder whether Charles knows about them ? Also, in the Lambeth Palace Library Archives in the Index to Act Books of the Archbishop of Canterbury there are two items which read " Jeoffrey Snelson, Oriel College, Oxford. Dispensation, vicar of Reigate, Surrey, vicar of Hendon, Middlesex. xii 196. " " Jeoffrey Snelson, vicar of Reigate, Commission of enquiry, Merstham Surry. xii 359. " He is mentioned in Gentleman's Magazine 1x 1215 in December 1790 in Ecclesiastical Preferments " Rev. Jeoffry Snelson, M.A. Hendon V. " He appears also in the Register of Bishop Porteus of Lodon records in 1790 - being the Institution of Geoffey Snelson M.A. rector of Hendon on resignation on Hugh Bailye, M.A.. Patron John Bond esquire. He is also mentioned on 18 July 1812 in the register of Bishop Howley of London ii 34 ( held in the Greater London Record Office ) in the record of the Institution of Theodore Williams BA rector of Hendon upon the death of Geoffrey Snelson MA.
