The Snelson DataBase & Armory started as a few entries in a little black book more than 50 years ago in 1969 - I still have it. The Snelson Database now contains information about some 23,000 Snelson folk, mostly located in Cheshire, Shropshire, Lancashire and Denbighshire. There is an incomplete list of many of the Contributors (see under the Miscellany tab in the Menu). If I have left you out, please remind me.
This extract is focused on my own family plus some famous or infamous others. I have excluded those born <100 years ago and not known by me to have died. My own earliest ancestor is William Snellson (or Snelston), my great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather. He first “appears” in Wales in the baptism record for his son in Gresford Parish in 1689. Where he comes from originally, I do not know. If you have any ideas, please let me know.
If you would like to use my images and photographs, please just ask. If you want to know if you can use the Snelson Coat of Arms illustrated on this website or in the book "Mystery of the Macclesfield Chalice” please ask.
