Biography | As a child, he often went off to stay with his Uncle Tommy and his wife Louise ( Starkey ). He helped out at a boating lake and for the rest of his life secretly craving for a sailing boat. At the age of 52 he had his first heart attack and had to give up working. He bought a dingy instead. Good on him ! Eventually he ended up with a five berth boat which he sailed single handedly back to the Isle of Man, keeping the trip secret from wife Vera until he got there. Wow, what an adventure. He must have been a fine fellow. Sadly he died a few years later - but on board his boat, no doubt doing what he loved so much. [:CR:]. |
