Crime	He committed a Crime and was convicted on 6 May 1902 a Petty Sessions in Prescot - fined, for being drunk.

Matthew pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 4 months hard labour. That's what you get for horsing around. I dunno about this, you know, he's a relative. He's one of us.
Marriage	He married Elizabeth Platt on 25 May 1912 at St Nicholas in Liverpool Matthew gives his age as 29 years - if he was born as we think in January 1880, then he would be 32 years old, so he is either lying, the scribe has made a mistake or we have the wrong birth date or who knows. He says his father was Peter Critchley and he is deceased - well, he ran off to the USA so maybe presumed dead is what happened. In my opiniom, it is more likely that they actually do not know (or care ?) that Peter Webster Critchley is alive in the USA.
Milit-Beg	Service in the Military commenced in 1918 in the South Lancashire Regiment, 1st/4th Battalion.
Death	He died of wounds received in action on 11 April 1918 in France at the end of WWI.
Burial	He was buried about 12 April 1918 at Panel 71 in Loos, France.

The record in England & Wales Births 1837-2006 says that Margaret was born in the 4th quarter of 1875 and that her mother's maiden name was "Critchley". However, the Baptisms at Eccleston Christ Churcg on 2 Jan 1876 say that her parents were "Henry" a watch maker and "Margaret". I think we are looking at separate "Margarets" here. I am thinking that the Margaret Critchley born in October 1875 is the daughter of Eunice and Peter Webster Critchley. For Margaret to have a mother's name registered as "Critchley" too, is either a great coinicidence, an indication of some intra family relationship or perhaps a daughter born out of wedlock. It looks like Peter and Eunice did not get married until a month after Margaret was born.
