Mrs. Thomas Houghton, of Burr Oak Flats in this county, in this city on i Thursday last,at Mr. John S. Bernier’s, and remained in town until five o'clock in the afternoon, when she started home which was 12 or 13 miles distant. She arrived home about leu o’clock, and went to bed apparently well as usual, but complained of being tired. She soon j went to sleep, front which she never awoke in this life, it i» supposed. AIm>u« four o'clock her husband heard her moan tug. as if disturbed in her dreams, and attempted to arouse her, but failing in that he got up and struck a light, and when he returned to the bed life liad departed. Heart disease is sup|»o»ed to ; have caused her deal It. Mr. Houghton, husband of the deceased is a brother of Mrs. John S. Bender of lids city. Mrs Bender went to Mr. • Houghton's immediately after the sad ti Í dings retched her. She has not yet returned.

Logansport, IN, USA, The death of Mrs. Rachel HOUGHTON, mother of Patrolman George HOUGHTON, occurred last night at her home in Deer Creek. She was aged 75 years and there was not a more respectable or widely known resident of that township. Her demise is mourned by a large circle of friends. The funeral will be held Sunday, the cortege leaving the house at 10 a.m. The services wlil be preached at the Baptist church and burial in the cemetery adjoining.
