Mr. Haughton was a lifelong resident of Warwick county.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Black Haughton; one daughter, Eloise Virginia Haughton; parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Haughton; one brother, William A. Haughton, all of Hilton Village, RFD 1; three sisters, Mrs. Walter G. Walker of Newport News, Mrs. Casey A. Martin and Miss Patience Haughton, Hilton.

TOPPING - Caxton O. Haughton Sr., 83, of Topping, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Riverside Convalescent Center following a lengthy illness. Mr. Haughton was born and raised in Warwick County and Newport News. He graduated from Morrison High School and worked for Newport News Shipyard for 37 years. He served in the Army in World War II, both in Europe, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, and also in Japan. He was a lifetime member of VFW and a charter member of North Riverside Baptist Church in Newport News. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Huckins Haughton; three children, Gail Langhorne O'Neal and her husband, Pete, Sarah Elizabeth White and her husband, Rolfe, and Caxton Oliver Haughton Jr. and his wife, Sylvia; six grandchildren, Paul Cunningham and his wife, Roni, Elizabeth Kennedy and her husband, Terry, Ryan and Adrian Haughton and Katie and Bryan White; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, in Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, Saluda.
