BiographyFeb 26, 1915Dr. Brooks Honored

Norwich, Feb. 26.-Dr. Paul B. Brooks, of this city, has been appointed district sanitary supervisor under the New York State Health department, the appointment to become effective March I. He will have charge of the sanitary inspection in the counties of Broome, Chenango, Cortland and Madison. Not the least attractive feature of the service is the handsome salary it carries. Dr. Brooks has given the matter of public health much careful and searching attention and is thoroughly qualities for his new duties by training and experience. He took the civil service examination in March a year ago and stood well up in the eligible list among the q50 candidates competing. The public health law passed under the administration of Gov. Sulzer calls for the appointment of 20 sanitary supervisors in the state to have general supervision over the work of the city and community health officers. The duties will be rather arduous and while he will maintain an office in Norwich Dr. Brooks will do much traveling about his district, directing his attention to sections where his services are most needed. Dr. Brooks has given freely of his time and energy in support of his time and energy in support of the successful effort to secure a county tuberculosis hospital. He is now and has been for several years a member of the local Health Board. During two years service as a village trustee he was earnestly interested in the welfare of the community and was regarded as an authority on matters pertaining to the public health. There were several other candidates for the appointment in this district and it was largely through the influence of Senator Samuel A. Jones that Dr. Brooks was selected. The state department is to be congratulated and Dr. Brooks many friends are felicitating him upon the worthy recognition of his splendid public services. [Utica Saturday Globe, Feb 26, 1915]
