two of my mother's brothers had four children each --Stuart (Teddy, the only survivor, had 4 sons. Eugene (Buddy) had three daughters and a son. Guta (Gussie) Levine groomed Buddy for the rabbinate. He was a Hebrew teacher and scholar on the side, and he dropped out of a rabbinical program to help support the family when my grandfather Morris Nelson had a heart attack. He was always religious, like Guta, who wore a sheitel (wig) in New York when it wasn't cool to do so. Brothers Teddy and Mayer became engineers--engineer; he worMayer helped design the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel; Teddy worked in industry and then for the Army Corps of Engineers. Muriel was a social worker and worked at the U.N. before it had a permanent home in Manhattan. My mother Susie majored in business administration.
