. My grandfather - Herschel (Harry) Glotzer, born 1888 Pinsk; died 1953 near Cape Town. His brother -Morrie, born 1890 Pinsk; died also 1953, Conn. Their father,"a merchant" - Zev or Wolf (died before 1916); mother - name unknown. Herschel visited Morrie February 1919 and stayed 6 weeks at his home (44 Broad St, NewBritain, Conn.). Herschel managed a stationery company based in Manchester and his visits were also in connection with his work. He also visited New York in October - December 1919 and in April - June 1920. Herschel later changed his name from Glotzer to Hadley when he lived in Australia and used this name in South Africa, where he became a hotelier near Cape Town. He also made a visit to Brookline, Mass. in 1950.2 |
