     His will was dated 10 May 1563 and proved 11 October 1568 by his widow Margery, who was named executrix. In his will he left: 40 of his best wethers (a neutered male sheep) to his son John; 10 of his best wethers (after John had chosen) to his son Nicholas; £6 13s 4d to his son George, at age 16; £4 6s 8d to his son Robert; £13 6s 8d to his daughter Agnes, half at the time of her marriage, and half "when her husband hath assured her in his bargain"; £10 to his daughter Grace at the time of her marriage; 12d to the Vicar of Thorncombe, 4d to St. Peter's Church in Exeter, 2s to the Church of Hawkchurch, and 12d to the Church of Charmouth; a ewe to Richard Bragge, son of William; 4d to each of his "brothers children and sisters"; and the rest to his wife Margery.¹

     Margery (?) married John Bowditch, son of Robert Boudyche, about 1539.¹
     She was executrix of her husband's will, dated 10 May 1563 and proved 11 Oct 1568, and received all that was left after specific gifts to his children and others.¹

     John Bowditch was born about 1540.¹
     He was named in his father's will, dated 10 May 1563 and proved 11 Oct 1568, and received 40 of his father's best wethers (a neutered male sheep).¹
     On 20 April 1567 be bought the eastern half of the house and certain lands in Thorncombe, co. Devon, England, from John Freke and Matthew Bragge. In the deed he is called "Gentleman."² On 4 October 1592 he was assessed 16d on land in Thorncombe valued at 20s.²

     Nicholas Bowditch was born about 1542.¹ He married Margery (?).² He was buried on 14 May 1611 (or possibly 16 April 1611) in Thorncombe, co. Devon, England.²
     He was named in his father's will, dated 10 May 1563 and proved 11 Oct 1568, and received 10 of his father's best wethers (a neutered male sheep), after his brother John had chosen 40.¹
     He was plaintiff in a Chancery suit involving "copyholds in the manor of Thorncombe" on 10 October 1579.² He was assessed 6s on goods valued at £6 in the subsidy of 4 August 1582, and 8s on goods valued at £8 in the subsidy of 4 August 1592, in Thorncombe, co. Devon, England.² He also lived in Chaffcombe, co. Somerset, England.²
     His wife Margery was made administrator of his goods on 25 August 1611.²

     He was named in his father's will, dated 10 May 1563 and proved 11 Oct 1568, and was left £4 6s 6d.¹
     On 20 April 1605 he bought the western part of the house and certain lands in Thorncombe, co. Devon, England, from Matthew Bragge, Richard Bragge, Alexander Walker, Abraham Downe, and John Edgar.²

     Agnes Bowditch was born about 1546.¹ She married William Hall on 3 February 1568 in Winsham, co. Somerset, England.²
     She and William Hall were probably already contracted to marry by 10 May 1563, the date of her father's will.² She was named in the will, which was proved 11 Oct 1568, and was to receive £13 6s 8d, half at her marriage and half when her husband "hath assured her in his bargain".¹

     Grace Bowditch was born about 1549.¹ She married George Lumbard on 14 October 1575 in Thorncombe, co. Devon, England.¹
     She was named in her father's will, dated 10 May 1563 and proved 11 Oct 1568, and was to receive £10 at her marriage.¹

     George Lumbard married Grace Bowditch, daughter of John Bowditch and Margery (?), on 14 October 1575 in Thorncombe, co. Devon, England.¹

     Margaret Sparke married Robert Bowditch, son of John Bowditch and Margery (?), on 12 January 1568 in Winsham, co. Somerset, England.¹ She was buried on 18 April 1585 in Thorncombe, co. Devon, England.²

     Robert Bowditch was baptized on 23 May 1567 in Thorncombe, co. Devon, England.¹ He married first Johan Cleve on 27 September 1590 in Thorncombe, co.      In Thorncombe, co. Devon, England, Robert Boudyche was assessed 14d on property valued at £7 in the subsidy of 1542-43, 10s on property valued at £10 in the subsidy of 24 November 1548, and 10s in the subsidy of 20 March 1552. He may be the person, named Richard Bowdiche in the records, who was assessed 10s on property valued at £10 in the subsidy of 26 February 1551.¹
