He lived in Burlington, Otsego Co., New York.2 He owned a 500-acre farm in Burlington, and also was a manufacturer.2 He was elected as an assessor at the first town meeting on 2 April 1793.2 He also served in the State Assembly in 1797 and 1798, and as a judge in the Court of Common Pleas for several years.2 His will was dated 3 February 1821 and proved on 14 April 1821.2
He and his first wife Miriam had the following known children: Betsey (b 20 March 1780, d 18 March 1858), John (b 1781, d March 1802), Samuel, William C., Sally, Jedediah (b 1789), Anna, Timothy (b 9 February 1794), Polly, Eliza Ann, Martha.2 He also had, probably with his second wife Dorcas, an additional daughter, Miriam.2
