He was paid 6d for carrying wood for the church in 1555, helped organize a church ale (i.e., festival) in 1560, served as a churchwarden in 1562, and was assessed £10 in 1568.1
His will was dated 20 June 1591 and proved on 9 December 1591. He left £14 to his son John, £60 to each of his sons Henry and Richard, all of his grain to his son Robert, £10 to his grandson John Stansbye, and £4 to his grandson Richard Ridsdale at age 21 or to his (Richard's) brother Thomas at age 21 if Richard were to die. The remainder was left to his wife Joan, who was named executrix.1
