He served as a juryman in Salem, Essex Co., Massachusetts, in 1719.2 He lived in Salem most of his life.2 About 1744 he moved with his son Joseph to Rutland, Worcester Co., Massachusetts,2 where he had purchased 150 acres of land from James and Patience Wright in April of that year.2 His will was dated 5 January 1745 in Rutland, and proved in May 1749.2

He was a cooper.2 He bought land in Marblehead, Essex Co., Massachusetts, in 1709.2 In 1720 he and Joshua Orne purchased an island near Marblehead named Charles Island from Mary Brattle, widow of Edward Brattle.2 His will was dated October 1761 and proved in January 1772.2

He was a housewright (i.e, a carpenter who specialized in building houses).2 He and his second wife Jehodan moved to New Salem, Essex Co., Massachusetts, in 1740, where they were among the first settlers.2 In November 1742 they were dismissed from the church in Salem to the one in New Salem2, where Ebenezer was selected as the first deacon in July 1744.2
He served as the first town clerk in New Salem, and was chosed as a selectman in 1753, the year the town was incorporated.2
His will was dated 24 November 1772 (the source actually says 24 November 1672, an obvious misprint) and proved in September 1776.2
