     Sarah Vose was born on 30 August 1684 in Milton, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts.1 She was married by Peter Thatcher, pastor, to James Babcock, son of James Babcock and Elizabeth (?), on 12 June 1706 in Milton, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts.1,2 She died on 25 December 1758 in North Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut, at age 74.1 She was buried on the family farm in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut. In the fall of 1900, her body was moved about 1/2 mile to a cemetery near the Pendleton Hill meeting house.1
     Her grandfather Robert Vose came to America with his sons Edward, Thomas, and Henry, and bought land in Milton, Massachusetts, in 1654. See the Babcock Genealogy for details.1 After their marriage, she and her husband James settled on a farm at what is now Pendleton Hill in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut.1,2 They joined the Stonington Congregational Church on 8 August 1708, where the pastor was Rev. James Noyes. In 1727 they and others left to form the North Stonington Church.1

Joseph Clark Jr.1

     Joseph Clark Jr. was born on 14 April 1670 in Westerly, Rhode Island.1 He married first Dorothy Maxson.1 He married second Anna Babcock, daughter of James Babcock and Elizabeth (?), about 1717.1,2 He died in 1719 in Westerly, Providence Co., Rhode Island.1 He was buried in Westerly, Providence Co., Rhode Island, in the Clark family cemetery, near the Pawcatuck River, about 1/2 mile above the meeting house bridge. His body was later moved to the site of the meeting house, where he preached. His name appears on a "Minister's Monument" that was erected there in 1899.3
     Joseph Clark Jr. was an assistant elder at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Westerly, Providence Co., Rhode Island.1 He and his second wife Anna had one known son, Elisha (b 17 November 1718).1

     Ann Maxson was born about 1741.1 She married Joshua Babcock, son of James Babcock and Elizabeth (?), on 28 May 1780.1,2 She died on 25 August 1812.1 She was buried at the First Hopkinton Cemetery in Hopkinton, Washington Co., Rhode Island. Her grave is a few rods northwest of the "Minister's Monument."1
     She was a great-granddaughter of Elder John Maxson, the first white child born on the island of Rhode Island, in 1638.1

     Simon Rhodes was born on 24 January 1716.1 He married first Anne Babcock, daughter of James Babcock and Content Maxson, on 15 December 1756 in Westerly, Kings Co., Rhode Island.1,2 He was baptized between 1761 and 1769 at the Stonington Congregational Church in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut.1 He married second Martha Babcock, daughter of George Babcock Jr. and Susanna Potter, on 27 August 1769.1 He died on 22 April 1784 at age 68.1
     He graduated in 1737 from Yale College in New Haven, New Haven Co., Connecticut.1 After their marriage, he and his first wife Anne settled in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut.1 They had the following known children: James (b 4 November 1757, d 15 July 1761), Mary (b 11 December 1758), Simon (b 22 June 1760), Henry (b 25 April 1762), Anne (b 18 September 1761, d 9 February 1789), Abigail (b 27 October 1768).1

     Her surname also appears as McDonald.2 In her husband's will, dated 17 September 1781 and proved 8 Oct 1781, she was left, among other property, "my Negro woman Chloe and my best cow."1 She and James had the following known children: Joanna (b 10 June 1770), James (b 10 December 1771), Ezra (b 13 May 1773), Charlotte (b 30 November 1775), Ann (Nancy) (b 19 December 1778).3

     Esther Hazzard was born on 7 December 1732.1 She married Jonathan Babcock, son of James Babcock and Content Maxson, in 1753.1,2 She died on 25 March 1831 at age 98.1
     She and her husband Jonathan moved to Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts, soon after the end of the French and Indian War.1 Her ancestry may be carried back farther on her mother's side, and includes two Deputy Governors of Rhode Island. See the Babcock Genealogy for details.1
