He and his wife Susannah were apparently living in Taunton, New Plymouth Colony, about 1668.1 On 29 October 1668 he was charged by the Indian Philip, a chief of the Pocanokett, with taking a gun from a member of his tribe. The case was referred to selectmen in Taunton, and on 1 June 1669 he was ordered to return the gun, and to pay 30 shillings for a hog he had taken.1
They eventually moved to Rhode Island, perhaps during King Philip's War (1675-78), or soon after the death of Susannah's father George about 1678/79.1 He was a witness to a deed dated 14 December 1674 for a sale of land from Thomas Newton to Francis Brimley of Newport, Rhode Island.1 And he and his sons Francis and Richard are named in the tax list for Rochester (now Kingstown), Rhode Island, dated 6 September 1687.1

This source notes that the only evidence for their marriage is a diary by Samuel West, a great grandson of Francis West, that says Francis married a daughter of George Soule, and names his children. The last three children are apparently consistent with those recorded in Rhode Island vital records for North Kingstown. Y-DNA tests on male descendants also supports their marriage.
