She was appointed administrator of her first husband Thomas Abbott Sr.'s will, which was dated 31 August 1659 and proved 27 Sep 1659, in Nov 1659. She was to receive all of his estate, except for gifts totalling £25 to his brothers George, Nehemiah, and Thomas Jr. In a codicil dated 5 Sep 1659, however, her husband specified that if she were to die childless, his lands were to go to his brothers.1
On 25 November 1659 she conditionally deeded all the land in Rowley, Essex Co., Massachusetts, that had been left her by her husband Thomas Abbott Sr., to his three brothers George, Nehemiah, and Thomas Abbott Jr. They were to have the land after her death if she died childless. On the same date the three brothers deeded all their rights, etc., in the same land to her. They also conditionally deeded several tracts of land totaling about 15 acres to Ezekiel Northern for £50, with possession to take place on the death of Dorothy Swan, provided she died childless.1
She and her first husband Thomas Abbott Sr. had no children.1

He was a husbandman and weaver in Ipswich, Essex Co., Massachusetts.2 He attended church in Topsfield, Essex Co., Massachusetts.2
On 21 April 1692 he was arrested for witchcraft in Salem Village, Essex Co., Massachusetts, along with many others. In court the next day the girls accusing him identified him and "fell into fits." When asked to confess, he said "I speak before God that I am clear in all respects." His accusers "were all struck dumb" again. But then one of them, Mercy Lewis, said "It is not the man." The others began to waver. Ann Putnam said that the devil had put a mist in her eyes. The case fell apart, and he was released. He is the only person during the Salem witchcraft hysteria known to have been released after refusing to confess.4
He was named administrator of his father's estate, and received £80 when it was settled on 5 Jun 1710.1
On 11 March 1715 he deeded to his son John, in consideration of parental love and affection, the house that his "sd son now dwells in" in Ipswich, Essex Co., Massachusetts, along with half his barn and land. If his son were to die before his wife, she was to have use of it while a widow. This deed wasn't acknowledged until 3 March 1724.2 On 10 November 1722 he deeded to John, again for "parental Love and affection," his rights to common land in Ipswich that was set out for him.2
His will was dated 28 May 1728 in Ipswich, and proved 27 December 1736. His son John was executor. His estate was inventoried on 1 February 1737, and valued at £170 12s 4d. His daughters Mary and Mehitable received half of his land, and all the household effects not otherwise disposed of. They also received use of the house as long as they were single. His daughter Sarah had received her share previously. His son John, in addition to the share of the estate he had already been given, received half of the remaining land, plus certain moveables.2
He and Remember had the following known children, all born in Linewood Parish in Ipswich, Essex Co., Massachusetts: Dorothy (bapt 26 April), Nehemiah (b 21 January 1690, probably d young), John (b 9 April 1691, d November 1764), Nehemiah (b 19 October 1692, d 1760), Mary (bapt 5 November 1693), Elizabeth (bapt 22 December 1694), Sarah, Mehitable (b 17 October 1700), Susanna.5
