Queen Sofie Amalie (of Denmark & Norway) was born on 24 March 1628 in Herzberg, Hannover, Prussia.1 She was the daughter of George (of Brunswick) and Princess Anna Eleonore (of Hesse-Darmstadt).1 Queen Sofie Amalie (of Denmark & Norway) married King Friedrich III (of Denmark & Norway), son of King Christian IV (of Denmark) and Anne Catherine (of Brandenburg), on 1 October 1643 in Gluckstadt.1 Queen Sofie Amalie (of Denmark & Norway) died on 20 February 1685 in Copenhagen, Denmark, at age 56.1 She is also reported to have died on 2 March 1685 in Slot Amalienborg, Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark, at age 56.1 She was buried on 27 March 1685 in Roskilde Domkirke, Roskilde, Roskilde Amt, Denmark.1
