Ship 'Anne' made a voyage in August 1623. She was the daughter of Ship.
Although there have been those who felt the Anne arrived in July 1623, it should be noted that Gov. Bradford in his manuscript refered to "Those wch came in yer Anne, ye August before". An unnamed ship under Captaine Francis West came "About ye later end of June" 1623. This ship stayed for an unstated period of time. Gov. Bradford then says "About 14. days after [but whether by "after" Gov. Bradford meant after the date of this ship's arrival from England, or after the date of its subsequent departure for Virginia is unknown] came in this ship, caled ye Anne, whereof Mr William Peirce was mr.,and aboute a weeke or 10. days after came in ye pinass which in foule weather they lost at sea, a fine new vessell of about 44. tune, which ye company had builte to stay in the cuntrie." There is no specific known date for the arrival of the Anne other than that given by Gov. Breadford as stated above. Most researchers will be more familiar with the 10 July 1623 date given by Charles Banks in The English Ancestry and Homes of the Pilgrim Fathers for the arrival, being approximately 14 days after the date of the arrival of the unnamed ship. Since Bradford specifically says the Anne arrived in August, probablyCapt. West's ship, which arrived in Plymouth the latter end of June 1623, left for Virginia in mid-July. Then 14 days latter, the Anne arrived, it being now the beginning of August.1
