    Chet was born on November 16, 1938 in Montezuma the son of the late Chester C. and Golda (Allen) Helmer. He served in the US Airforce from 1956 – 1958. For 27 years he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for IOUE #832 out of Rochester. He was a fire chief in Savannah.

    He is survived by his loving and supporting wife of 50 years Geraldine “Gerry” (Reading); his daughters Tina Helmer, Kelly (Tim) Carmon and Patty (Joe) McBride; his sons Richard J. (Linda), Donald (Lisa) Helmer and Gerald Helmer and Timothy Capron; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    He is predeceased two sisters Edna (Howard) Sanders L. and Jean Helmer; his brother Richard L. (Ann) Helmer.

    He is survived by his mother, Geraldine "Gerry"; his sisters: Ginger and Brandy Capron, Kelly (Tim) Carmon, Tina Helmer and Patty (Joe) McBride; his brothers: Wayne Capron, Richard J. (Linda), Donald (Lisa) and Gerald Helmer; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Tige left this earth way too early and will be sadly missed. A private family service will be at a later date.
