Biographical Details

	Immigrant	Abram Szaja Jankelewicz was also known as Abe Jankie.
	Birth	He was also known as Avraham Yesheyahu Ben Aaron.2
	Nickname	His nickname was Adek.
	Note	Named after his great grandfather Gabriel Avraham Engel.
1924	Birth	He was born on 6 June 1924 in Łódź, Poland.
	Note	He lived in the Łódź ghetto during the Second World War until September 1944 when the Nazis liquidated the ghetto. He was taken with his parents and two brothers to Auschwitz-Birkenau where his mother and younger brothers were gassed. Together with his father he was sent to a succession of camps — Wolfsberg, Gross Rosen (a satellite of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp), until ending up at the Ebensee camp in Austria. After the camp's liberation by American troops, he lived in Munich with Jerry Kohler and eventually went to Red Cross offices in Switzerland where he found that his cousin Gabriel Rosencwig had also survived. They migrated to Australia.3
